As they had no idea what the weather might bring on their wedding day, Jihey and David chose to be have their wedding ceremony inside rather than out in the freezing evening cold. We returned to Rush Creek Lodge for their wedding ceremony just before dark. For Jihey and David, it was the perfect way to kick off their wedding together. Old sights and vistas take on fresh new life – even your most treasured views bring something new to the table. If you’ve only visited Yosemite in the warmer seasons, I strongly encourage you to explore Yosemite in the winter. With our trusty four wheel drive, we quickly made our way though Yosemite Valley, visiting some of my favorite locations and sharing special places in the park together. In front of them was a nearly empty playground of wonders. They were prepared for snow to be dumping on them, but somehow we found a short break in the weather and nearly clear skies. That’s how Jihey and David found themselves in a Yosemite freshly dusted with snow inbetween storms. But if you’re ready for what might happen, you’ll be there enjoying every second of whatever does happen. If you ask me, that’s the true beauty of Yosemite – everything is constantly changing and no two days are ever the same. Everything could be frozen solid, storms could be blanketing Yosemite with snow, or it might even be sunny and warm. One of the biggest challenges of planning a wedding in Yosemite during the Winter (or anytime really) is not knowing exactly what the weather might have in store for you. Part of their preparations had included time to explore Yosemite Valley together before their wedding ceremony – expanding their wedding day experience. It perfectly set the mood of a lighthearted day. It felt as if they had clearly intended their families to be present, and to be present with them, as Jihey’s hair and makeup was perfected by Pure Makeup and the final details were locked in. In short, Rush Creek Lodge is perfect for an intimate Yosemite Wedding, something that Jihey and David quickly found out.Įarly in the morning as preparations began for a celebration, Jihey and David were in no rush as they were joined by both friends and family before the ceremony while they themselves got ready for the day ahead. It is less a hotel, and more a place to gather with friends old and new. It feels both at home in the woods and providing for your desires. Located just outside of Yosemite’s North Gate, Rush Creek Lodge brings modern touches designed for outdoor lovers. But what if you want to have a bit more modern luxury for your Yosemite Wedding? A place that still feels at home in a National Park, but with updates. Originally opened in 1927 it features an impressive design fit for Yosemite Valley with old time charm and character. It has hosted royalty from abroad, American Presidents, been recognized as a National Historic Place, and some even say it even looks like the Overlook Hotel.
